John is an attorney, ski historian, and author, who has written a number of essays on ski history published on Historylink.org, and has published four books, several of which have received national book awards: "Early Skiing on Snoqualmie Pass" (2017); "Sun Valley, Ketchum, and the Wood River Valley" (2020); Skiing Sun Valley: a History from Union Pacific to the Holdings (2020); and Ski Jumping in Washington State: a Nordic Tradition (2021) – companion to the exhibit “Sublime Sights – Ski Jumping and Nordic America” at the National Nordic Museum, cosponsored by WSSSM.
A native of Alabama, Bama is an enthusiastic history buff and fan of all things in the mountains. She's one of the friendliest new residents of Hyak and knows how to cook half the secret recipe to Dan's famous Aardvark curry.
Kathy started working at the family business at the Pass at age 5 in the gift shop. She is a former Board Member of the Outdoors for All Foundation and enjoys helping WSSSM with marketing, fundraising, and event planning.
